Sarah Loftus joins Make It York as Managing Director

Sarah Loftus has taken her position as the new Managing Director of Make It York. 

Formerly the Chief Executive of the Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG), Sarah will take a lead on the delivery of a refreshed and innovative tourism strategy for the City of York. She will also take a lead on driving forward the city’s cultural strategy and promote York’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally. 

Sarah joins Make It York with a wealth of experience, with previously held positions including the Corporate Director for Economic Growth at Trafford Council and Service Director for Economic Growth and Strategic Housing for Wakefield Council. She also had a series of different roles in the six years she worked for Yorkshire Forward culminating in the role of Assistant Director for the Humber Region in 2008/9. 

Sarah’s first week of business will include the return of St Nicholas Fair, which opens later this week on Thursday 18th November. There will be 68 alpine chalets spread across Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, offering a range of unique gifts, seasonal food and drinks and local produce.
