Applications open for Lord Mayor of York’s Fund

The Lord Mayor of York’s fund has been established by Cllr Janet Looker during her year in office to support local charitable and community activity. The fund will receive donations and distribute these in the form of grants to voluntary and community groups, charities and other types of not for profit organisation providing that the purpose of the grant is wholly charitable.

Grants will be available to groups working to improve the lives of children and young people up to the age of 21, living in the City of York and/or community arts and heritage projects.  Priority will be given to small, locally based groups or organisations working in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community and are undertaking actions as a means of addressing these needs.

Size of grants

Grants are available of between £200 and £2000 (although the panel may in exceptional circumstances exercise discretion and award up to £5000).

Who can apply?

Groups need to:

  • Be small local groups (as a general guide we consider small in this case, to be those with an income of less than £250,000 (in the last reporting year) run by local people.
  • Be operating in the City of York (within the boundary of the area served by City of York council)
  • Have limited access to other sources of income.
  • Have a constitution (governing document) including suitable, charitable dissolution clause.

Applications are only considered complete when all supporting documentation has been received either attached to the online application or emailed to grants@tworidingscf.org.uk

The fund is open now for applications and closes on 8th March 2021
