City Centre Events

Planning an event in York city centre?

This application is for events taking place in city centre locations managed by Make It York, including public spaces such as Parliament Street, St Helen’s Square, St Sampson’s Square, King’s Square and Eye of York.

This could include:

Performances
Promotional events
Seasonal activities
Cultural events

Community Events

Planning an event on council-owned parks or open spaces?

Use this application for community-led events taking place on City of York Council land outside the city centre.

This could include:

Community festivals
Family fun days
Charity events
Local celebrations
Outdoor community activities

Larger Scale Events

Planning a large or more complex event?

If your event involves larger audiences, significant infrastructure, road closures or requires detailed safety planning, you’ll need to complete a Safety Advisory Group (SAG) application.

If you’re unsure whether your event requires SAG involvement, contact the Events Team before applying.

The event location

An outline of your event

Estimated attendance numbers

Information about any entertainment, food vendors or temporary structures (if applicable)

Providing as much information as possible will help us process your application more quickly.
