The Visit York Tourism Conference is a must for anyone working in tourism and associated sectors across the city. Each year the conference leads on topical issues for the industry, with guest speakers and a themed discussion for an audience of 250 attendees.
York’s annual Residents Festival is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the warm welcome our residents continue to give to York’s visitors. Businesses and attractions across the city come together in curating a programme of discounts and offers for residents.
York Ice Trail is a signature event for the city. The UK’s biggest outdoor Ice Trail features a range of magnificent ice sculptures and brings tens of thousands of visitors into the city each February. Following our trail map, attendees can explore the city streets and uncover the sculptures as they go, complete with interactive pieces, live carvings and photo opportunities.
The prestigious Visit York Tourism Awards take place annually, providing a platform for local tourism businesses and individuals to be recognised for their contribution, shine a spotlight on excellence in York’s tourism sector and reward outstanding service, innovation, quality and resilience.

Enjoy over 30 acts, musicians and interactive workshops at York’s new Spring festival, YorkLife. The festival will showcase local talent in the city in the form of musicians, performers, comedians and much more! Experience a range of interactive sessions held by local organisations such as theatre workshops, instrumental workshops, face painting, comedy and dance performances, as well as fire performers and local circus acts!
A weekend of Yorkshire-themed events and activities taking place across the first weekend of August, putting York at the heart of Yorkshire Day. In past years we’ve seen giant screens, photo opportunities, market stalls and pop-up attractions. Venues across the city contribute with special offers, events and experiences inspired by Yorkshire.
Thrilling matches, elite athletes and world-class sporting action. The Rugby League World Cup is coming to York in 2022. For the first time in the sport’s history, the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments will all be played at the same time. Make It York work with a range of partners, including City of York Council, on this incredible event.
Rated in the top ten Christmas Markets in the UK, the five-week St Nicholas Fair features over sixty charming alpine chalets lining the streets, with local businesses selling everything from handmade gifts to delicious treats. The Make It York team work with partners to deliver a safe and magical event in York, one of the UK’s most festive cities.
