How to Book an Event
Our prime City Centre locations are the perfect place for any business wishing to promote new products and reach their target audience.
York welcomes 8.4 million visitors every year, 500,000 of whom visit our Visitor Information Centre where all our city centre activities are promoted ensuring the event or promotion you book will receive maximum exposure. We also promote our City Centre activities through the Visit York website which receives over 2 million users per year.
With over 200,000 residents, York’s public squares, busy shopping streets and open spaces all benefit from excellent footfall and offer high profile locations to promote your brand, product or message.
Examples of possible events and promotions include:
• arts and cultural activities
• charity and public awareness events
• product launches
• brand activations
• product sampling
Make It York welcomes local charity activations and community groups. For these groups, King’s Square (please see map for exact location) is available to use free of charge, however, this is subject to availability and time of year. Parliament Street
Our most prestigious promotional area is Parliament Street and is home to Marks & Spencer, independent shops and several high street banks. Offering a fully pedestrianised area for your promotion between 10.30am and 5.00pm. The average weekly footfall is over a 168,000.

St Helen’s Square
St Helen’s Square in an important junction in the city of York, with Coney Street, Lendal, Blake Street, Stonegate and Davygate all leading from it. The square is the location for the city’s Christmas Tree and has previously been used for the Christmas Light switching on ceremony. Occupiers of the square include the Mansion House, Betty’s Tea Rooms, The Ivy and various eateries. There is also access to the York Guildhall via the square.
St Sampson’s Square
St Sampson’s Square is one of the most vibrant and popular areas within the city centre being an important link between Parliament Street and Davygate. The square hosts a variety of markets and entertainment throughout the year, whilst providing outdoor seating areas for some local catering businesses during the summer months.
