York Cultural Strategy
York’s Cultural Strategy sets out a shared vision for the future of culture in the city. Developed by arts, heritage and cultural organisations across York, the strategy outlines a clear direction for how culture will continue to shape the city in the years ahead.
Funded by City of York Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the strategy reflects the collective ambition of the sector and highlights the vital role culture plays in York’s communities, economy and identity.
The strategy focuses on six key priorities designed to ensure culture is accessible to everyone. It aims to strengthen participation, support creative talent and help people connect with their heritage, identity and community.
With inclusion and participation at its heart, the strategy seeks to ensure culture remains relevant and accessible to everybody in York, regardless of age, background or postcode.
Building on the foundations of York’s Creative Future 2020–2025, the strategy reflects the resilience and ambition of York’s cultural sector while looking ahead to new opportunities for creativity across the city.
