ToyLikeMe is an arts and play based community enterprise in York. We celebrate the powers of disability representation, to boost self-esteem in disabled children and grow open minds in non-disabled children. We create artwork to start conversations about disability, influence the toy industry to better represent disabled children and educate through our playful schools workshops and public events. Recent arts activities have included Toy Box Tales where we create with the children a Pop Up Art Gallery with the 12 Toy Box Tales images on our website along with toys that positively represent children with disabilities . Or an interactive display showcasing the wonderful jobs that D/deaf people do called See it Be it! We have worked with academic at Queen Margarets University to prove that if children spend just 3 minutes with toys that positively represent children with disabilities it has a positive effect on their friendship intentions Take a peek at our website www.toylikeme.org.
